2012-05-13 mother's day

today is mother's day.  what a wonderful day.  i was blessed to be able to spend mother's day with 4 great mothers.  my grandma, my sister, my aunt. and of course the best mother of them all, MY mom!  we had a delicious lunch.  the men did men things. and the kids played outside for hours.

bray, nan, and bossy have taught me so much in just their few short years.  they've taught me to not be selfish.  they've taught me to care about others more than myself.  they've taught me patience and time management. and of course they've taught me that the love you get from children is like no other. =)

it's hard for me to talk about my love for my children.  not because i don't love them!!!  but because i have so much love for them that it makes me emotional.  and good grief, if i cry i start getting all snotty and that's just not a good look for me.

if i am half the mother that my mom is then my sweet beautiful children are doing well.  i pray that Jesus gives me the wisdom to guide them the way He wants me to.  and i praise God and thank Him daily for entrusting these precious children to my care.

2012-05-03 juicing day 4 of 10

current fad: juicing! (a la fat, sick, and nearly dead movie) (i watched it on netflix)

mission: to only drink juice from organic fruits and veggies for 10 days.

starting weight 4/30/12: 137.4

day 3 weight: 132.8


fruits and veggies cost: $70.72
IF all the fruits and veggies were gone from being eaten (which they are not) that amount would come out to be about $17.68 dollars a day or $5.89-ish a meal based on 3 meals a day.  however, i have plenty of fruits and veggies for tomorrow and saturday and probably sunday as well.  so the daily average amount spent will go down drastically.


pros i've lost 4.6 lbs!  i've done 4 days of juicing and i'm not dead yet.  raw mouth is almost gone so, i'm counting that as a pro.  energy seems to be coming back.  i rant 3 miles this morning.  albeit slow.  oh yes, and,  i drank 5 juices today!!


cons:  at dinner time each night i have seemed to go completely insane for food.  the food cravings are taking over.  also, i'm not for sure that the stress of fighting the cravings is worth all of this.  


juice 1:  (2 apples, 1 pear, ginger) taste like apple juice


juice 2:  
 (strawberries, blueberries, banana, and almond milk )  


juice 3:  (tomato, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, cuke, celery) I thought it would taste like salsa. But it didn't. Oh well! Down the hatch anyways 



juice 4:  (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, banana, 4 leaves of kale, almond milk, 1/2 orange, tbsp almond butter) SO GOOD

juice 5:  (5 carrots, 2 stalks of celery, ginger) very creamy.  


uh, well, not much has changed. i did good this morning and afternoon.  it was this evening that i had a mini-breakdown.  this seems to be a trend.  i guess i am used to having my big meal in the evening and i really want to eat.   i am finishing this out.  but i'm not happy.  when will the i've-got-energy-i-want-to-do-this-for-30-days-instead-of-just-10 come? i keep thinking, there are plenty of people that lose weight by doing WW or just watching their portions and eating healthier.  what am i doing???!!!  i'm torturing myself.  i really am.  will this be worth it in 10 days?  i don't know?

2012-05-02 juicing day 3 of 10

IF all the fruits and veggies were gone from being eaten (which they are not) that amount would come out to be about $23 dollars a day or $7.85-ish a meal based on 3 meals a day.  however, i have plenty of fruits and veggies for tomorrow and friday and probably saturday as well.  so the daily average amount spent will go down drastically.


pros:  i've lost 4 lbs!  i've done 3 days of juicing and i haven't gone insane yet.


cons:  still have a raw mouth.  kale is gross juiced.  but i have 3 bunches of it and i'm determined to juice it.  still have a lack of energy,  couldn't even do 2 miles this morning.  i'm such a loser and quit at 1.88 miles.  i walked back home.  come on energy, where are you?

other cons that could but are probably not related to juicing:  upper back has been killing me.  i really do think it's from the actual physical act of juicing not from drinking the juice.


juice 1:  (1/4 cuke, 2 apples, 2 stalks of celery) taste like apple juice


juice 2:  (tomato, celery, 1/2 cuke, lime)  the lime separated from the tomato.  i stirred and drank.  it was good


juice 3:  (2 apples, 4 kale leaves, 4 springs of parsley, 6 carrots)


it was at this point that i started dreaming about mexican food.  really cheese chili relleno.  rice.  chips and salsa.  my mouth was watering.  i wanted to give up.  i had decided at one point to quit tomorrow.  i mean, three days is good right?!  i have decided to eat out of with my husband on friday night.  i can't wait.


juice 4:  (4 kale leaves, 2 apple, 1 orange, some blueberries, banana)  


i'm kinda over juice right now.  i like the weight loss so i'm sticking with it.  however, i am really over drinking the juice.  i want to chew food.  i want spaghetti.  mexican food.  bread.  i thought the cravings would be gone by now but they are worse than ever.  i am the type of person that puts things out on facebook because i know people see it and that's my way of being held accountable.  so i know i will stick with this because i hate failing at things, especially when others know about it.  but, i'm not gonna lie, THIS.IS.HARD.

2012-05-01 juicing day 2 of 10

still working on getting the blog all in order. kept all my old stuff. just changed the title, address, and the look a little.

current fad: juicing! (a la fat, sick, and nearly dead movie) (i watched it on netflix)

mission: to only drink juice from organic fruits and veggies for 10 days.

starting weight (yesterday): 137.4

day 2 weight: 134.8

i am on day 2 of a 10 day juice feast =) this morning i juiced a head of romaine lettuce, lemon, 5 stalks of celery, 4 carrots, orange, apple, ginger, pineapple, and cucumber. it's actually pretty good. it taste mostly like orange juice with a lettuce after taste.

i can't really tell you if there are any "pros" yet. i guess i do feel a bit more focused? maybe...

cons or possible weird side affects: my tummy feels funny. i wouldn't describe it as hurting. maybe bloated? it gurgles a lot. i was super crabby by the end of the day yesterday. but feel much better today. i was super tired yesterday as well. at 6pm i was looking for ways to go to sleep for the night. (we all know that didn't happen. not with kiddos!) however, i woke up this morning feeling much better. although, the roof of my mouth is swollen on the left side. odd. i need to run. but i'm scared to run. i am worried that i won't have the energy. i've been told that around day 5 of the juice feast, i will get a burst of energy that will be awesome. i'm waiting.....
